Evaluation Question Three
Feedback is crucial to all elements of our trailer, poster and magazine cover to help myself and also my group achieve the best we can through improving it each time.
I got feedback from many different people to get varied opinions. For our trailer, we created three different rough cuts, each time using the feedback given to improve each time. Some of the feedback we received was positive and just that certain things could be enhanced to make them more predominant and powerful, such as Helen’s footsteps as she enters and the trailer begins. Quite a valuable piece of feedback was about re-ordering two shots. One being the scene where Helen walks past a female getting out of her car, and another where two female characters stopping mid-conversation as they see Helen. The feedback was to re-order these so the conversation goes first as when it comes second, the car from the first one isn’t within the shot – giving us bad continuity and as soap operas are all about verisimilititude, we re-ordered these scenes.
We also have changed how pronunciation of our voice over a few times as it was suggested it may sound better as a powerful, well-spoken female voice to relate to Helen and how she is seemingly in control of the street.
The feedback from family and friends was similar to the feedback from the class. We tried to get feedback from our target audience so that any changes we made would be relevant to every other person within the target audience and demographic groups. This showed me and my group that if the feedback was the same, it would help us make it the best we can to appeal to everyone.
Equally, feedback surrounding my poster and magazine cover helped me each time I created a new draft. The main feedback I received was to make the font clearer and bigger on both. The picture I chose for my final draft I edited it grey scale to make it look professional and people commented that this was effective. Feedback from my other poster draft included positives on the colour scheme (black, red and white) because it “flowed well” and wasn’t “hard on the eyes”. Therefore it was pleasant to look at. Negative feedback included the fact my picture, which was in a silhouette style, was difficult to see although it gave the mystery element that is crucial so it entices the audience into watching the programme. The feedback for my posters helped me to make it flow together nicely and this was achieved through the colour scheme I put into place.
The magazine cover was the most difficult to create as it relied heavily on what people’s opinions were. The main feedback I received from my first two drafts was that it wasn’t a particularly “organised” layout with too many colours. This was what helped to decide that a colour scheme would be effective, such as other magazines which follow a colour scheme. The feedback on my pictures was good and “realistic and a good range of story lines to interest the reader”.

Evaluation Question One
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Evaluation Question 1
In conclusion, we have stuck to the typical conventions you see in Soap Operas, either through the storyline, the characters and the setting. Our trailer follows a soap opera trailer conventions of short scenes, following one particular storyline but using several different characters. Our other story lines are shown subtly and are not invasive on the main storyline we are showing.

Friend Feedback:
- The pictures are set out in a more flowing dynamic way and the structure and message is clear to the audience. The colour scheme that is used works really well as none of the colours clash and really looks professional.
- Realistic and a good range of storylines to interest the reader.

Friend Feedback:
- The pictures are more flowing than the first and the structure is taking shape. However, the colours that are used do clash and do not make it seem professional. There are also odd bits here and there which show that it isn't to a professional high standard.
